Balearic sales rise in September by 15.4%

The real estate markets in Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza are still on the rise. The Instituto Nacional de Estadística, INE, has reported 706 properties sold in September this year in the Balearic Islands, an increase of 15.4% on 2013. The demand from abroad for well-located holiday homes in Mallorca remains strong in 2014. Looking at the first nine months cumulatively, the sale rate of real estate in 2014 increased by 17.3% compared to the previous year. Real estate sales figures continue to rise in the Balearics

The Spanish statistics office, INE, reports that 623 properties (excl. social housing) were sold in the Balearics in July 2013. This represents a year-on-year increase of 9%. Impressive property in privileged situation close to Llucmajor In total, notaries in Majorca, Ibiza and Minorca recorded 4,727 sales transactions in the private housing market during the first seven months of the year. This confirms the previous months’ increases: in total from January to July, 8.4% more properties were sold compared with last year. John van Eenennaam, born in Vlissingen, Netherlands, has been living in Majorca’s capital, Palma, since 1991. Before moving into real estate, he was involved in the import and export of leather goods and footwear. Since 2005 he has been working as an estate agent in southwest Majorca. In 2012 he acquired the Southwest II franchise licence from Porta Mallorquina and, in June last year, he opened an estate agency on Boulevard Santa Ponsa.
