Places Mallorca – the new Fincahotel Guide

Mallorca is known for its unique rural hotels, historical estates, possessions and aristocratic estates that have been polished with great love and effort as gems and which offer tranquility and relaxation off the mass tourism. To this day, there are more than 200 Finca hotels in Majorca and PLACES MALLORCA is the first extensive guide specialized in rural tourism. Most of the 210 featured properties have been personally visited by the editors. Myth and passion! Run with the sun – the TUI Marathon in Mallorca

The marathon is the king event amongst the long distance runs. It owes its name to the famous battle at Marathon (490 BC), when Athens had to defend themselves against an invasion from the Persians. The army of King Darius was defeated and, according to legend, the brave soldier Pheidippides delivered news of the victory running 40 km to Athens, where, after proclaiming the message "we won", he dropped dead. Whether faithful to history or just a heroic saga, nobody can tell for sure, but it is certain that people always tried to experience the limitaions of body- and mind. And there is hardly any other sport discipline that requires more in both respects from the runner than long-distance running. Why is the marathon distance 42.195 km? Shortly before the start of the first Olympi...

Advise on real estate financing on Mallorca

A property in a good location in Mallorca is one of the most stable investments in Europe. Even the real estate crisis in Spain, which in 2009 resulted in a dramatic price decline in many holiday destinations, could not harm the jewel of the Mediterranean. In the last three years there was a minimal price decline of a maximum of 5-10%, says Stephan Hoffmann. As the Listing Manager of Porta Mallorquina he administrates currently more than 1,800 properties in Mallorca. The slight decline should be seen as a natural market correction since after the new millennium, the real estate prices were ascending yearly in double digits untill 2008. „The price level has stabilized“, notes Stephan Hoffmann. Especially villas in front sea line and well maintained country homes,  fincas, are still...

Naturally, this area is very popular with tourists in high summer but you’ll notice little of this after winding round just a few of the bends along the breathtaking cliffs. The Formentor peninsula Let’s take a trip now to a truly magical part of the island’s north which, because of its perfectly secluded and exquisite location alone, has justifiably enjoyed a reputation as an absolutely top spot with wealthy international travellers for decades. Since the Formentor peninsula can only be reached by land via a single road, it offers not only a unique and romantic panoramic view of the cliffs and beach but also another, very important ...
