The municipality of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar in the east of the island is one of the smaller municipalities of Mallorca, situated between Manacor and Artà. It has a few more than 7.000 inhabitants. Large areas of the some 90 km2 is part of the protected natural area "Parc Llevant".
